Credit Repair During Bankruptcy Pt. 3

Bank Accounts

If you are repairing your credit after bankruptcy and you don’t already have a personal checking and savings account with your local credit union, you’ll want to get that done. It is nice to have another personal checking and savings account with your local bank as well.

Click here for a list of local credit unions and banks that we have found to be easy to work with people who have recently filed for bankruptcy.

Once your accounts are open, you should consider linking them to a Mint.com orYodlee account. These are just a couple of free, online accounts that can assist with monitoring bank accounts and online bill pay. It is a good idea to keep an eye on your finances and these websites offer free and easy ways to do just that.

Credit Monitoring the Right Way

Additionally, you will want to sign up for some of the following free credit monitoring services:

Credit Karma – This is a truly free service, although you will see plenty of advertising for certain products, offered by TransUnion. Credit Karma is awesome because not only does it allow you to easily monitor your credit activity but it also gives you a free credit score. The credit score is based upon Credit Karma’s estimate; however, we have found it to be pretty accurate. There are other cool tricks Credit Karma offers, you just have to open an account and check it out for yourself.

Credit Sesame – This is also a truly free service with a lot of advertising that offers a service similar to Credit Karma. Experian services credit Sesame.
